Reflecting on the Second Online Brainstorming Session – RESIZE Project
After the first Brainstorming session on the 23rd of April, on 29 April, the RESIZE Project consortium held its second inspirational online brainstorming session, continuing our collaborative journey toward innovation and reform in the correctional field.
This session delved deeper into the ecosystem perspective on detention houses, exploring both disruptive and harmonious factors that shape the correctional landscape. Grounded in Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory, we discussed how various societal layers—from the individual to the institutional—interact and influence correctional environments.
Each expert in the consortium took on a distinct role within the correctional ecosystem, offering insights from their respective professional backgrounds. The dialogue emphasized how stakeholders interact within this system and how these interactions can generate solutions to the complex challenges faced in the justice and correctional sectors.
The session also examined how this ecosystem approach aligns with the concept of Restorative Cities, emphasizing the value of community-based restorative practices and cross-sector collaboration. It reinforced the need for an inclusive and human-centered framework in correctional reform—one that promotes continuous learning, upskilling, and system-wide growth.
This was another meaningful step in our shared mission under the RESIZE Project to strengthen competencies, build synergies, and drive transformation across Europe’s correctional systems.
