Strengthening Justice Systems Through Skills and Knowledge Sharing: The RESIZE Approach

Mar 25, 2026

We often talk about reforming justice systems.

But what if change also depends on how people learn, collaborate, and develop their skills?

Across Europe, there is growing recognition that rehabilitation is closely linked to the everyday practices, competencies, and interactions of those working within the system.

At the same time, knowledge is often siloed, and valuable experience does not always translate into recognized competencies.

This raises an important question: how can systems better support skills development and knowledge sharing?

This article explores the shift towards more community-based and rehabilitative justice systems: https://www.rescaled.org/

This is where RESIZE operates.

The project aims to empower practitioners to take an active role in their own professional development – by recognizing competencies, supporting knowledge sharing, and developing flexible learning approaches such as micro-credentials.

Strengthening skills recognition and knowledge sharing is key to building more effective and adaptive systems.
