The #PROMOTE consortium continues to make strong progress in the development of our e-learning platform (WP3), with important elements already taking shape.
Promote Project – Promoting Integrated Professional Development for Prison Practitioners in Vocational Excellence for Offender Reintegration – is a #CoVE Project, meaning a Centre of Vocational Excellence project. In simple terms, CoVE projects bring together organisations that work across education, training, and practice to develop high-quality, innovative, and relevant vocational learning approaches with strong real-world impact. In Promote Project, this means working together to strengthen the professional development of prison practitioners and support offender reintegration.
As a key part of the project and #WP3, the platform is being developed to provide accessible, high-quality training for professionals working within the correctional justice system. It will bring together interactive courses, virtual simulations, and practical resources aimed at strengthening skills and supporting continuous professional development.
One of the elements already developed in draft form is a virtual simulation, which can now be explored as part of the platform’s ongoing development. This marks an exciting step forward and reflects the joint efforts, expertise, and commitment of the consortium in creating an engaging and practice-oriented digital learning environment.
We recognise that correctional systems across #Europe operate within different legal, procedural, and institutional frameworks, and that practices may vary not only from country to country but also between individual institutions. In line with #PROMOTE’s #CoVE ambition, the purpose of the simulations is, therefore, not to replicate every national setting in identical detail but to provide realistic, adaptable, and pedagogically robust learning experiences that strengthen professional judgement, encourage reflection, and support competence development across diverse correctional contexts.
Our shared ambition is to develop a flexible and user-friendly platform that contributes to vocational excellence by supporting the continuous upskilling and reskilling of prison practitioners, strengthening the quality and relevance of professional training, and ultimately contributing to more effective reintegration-oriented practice across the correctional justice system.
While the platform is still under development, this progress highlights the steady advancement of the Promote Project and the collaborative work behind it. The next phase will focus on continuing to refine and expand both the content and the functionality of the platform.
