We achieved Real Impact and Real Voices at the M4Pris project Final Conference and we can not wait to share our experience Behind the Walls of The High Security Prison in Nyborg.
The Final Conference of the M4Pris: Peer Mentoring for Prison Staff in Europe project was held on 18 June 2025 at the High Security Prison in Nyborg, Denmark, co-hosted by BrainLog and the Danish Prison Officers Union (Fængselsforbundet i Danmark).

This exceptional and immersive event brought together prison officers, associated professors, training institutions, researchers, and justice-sector stakeholders from five EU countries, all united by a shared mission: to enhance Continuing Vocational Education and Training (C-VET) for prison staff and foster a professional, resilient, and well-supported correctional workforce.
Participants had the rare opportunity to step inside the high-security area of the prison, where they observed inmate facilities, daily activities, and prison officers in action—offering a direct window into life behind the walls. Before the tour, we were formally welcomed by the Director of Nyborg Prison, whose support made this unique experience possible.
Participants engaged in:
Interactive presentations by Danish prison officers sharing insights on daily responsibilities, peer mentoring practices, and professional development in Denmark.
In-depth discussions comparing national systems
A guided tour of the prison’s secure units and rehabilitation environments, sparking meaningful dialogue among participants
The conference underscored urgent challenges faced across Europe’s prison systems including staff shortages, burnout, and turnover. Through M4Pris, we have laid the foundation for more structured, recognised, and supportive career pathways in the justice and correctional sector.
As part of the conference, BrainLog and the Danish Prison Officers Union also introduced two major follow-up initiatives designed to support long-term impact:
Promote Project– Promoting Integrated Professional Development for Prison Practitioners in Vocational Excellence
A project focused on strengthening C-VET standards and practices within correctional systems.
RESIZE – Reshaping Correctional Competencies for a Sustainable Future
A project aimed at systemic reform and competency-based education, aligning professional standards across EU correctional services.
A heartfelt thank you to the Danish Prison Officers’ Union for their exceptional partnership and unwavering support—not only in making this event a reality, but in creating an environment of trust, openness, and meaningful exchange.
And thank you to all our partners and guests for your enthusiasm, collaboration, and commitment to advancing correctional education across Europe.
